CrossFire is an exhilarating online multiplayer first-person shooter game developed by SmileGate, a South Korean company. Immerse yourself in the classic FPS gameplay as you choose to play as either a Black List or Global Risk operative, engaging in intense battles as terrorists or antiterrorists. With a wide range of game modes and constant updates, CrossFire offers a highly successful shooting experience.
While the game gained immense popularity in the East, particularly in China, it didn't quite achieve the same level of success in the West. However, SmileGate is now working on a console version that shows great promise. Despite some shortcomings in consistent support and weak anti-cheating protection, CrossFire remains a free-to-play game with a pay-to-win model.
What sets CrossFire apart from its FPS peers is its remarkable variety. With over twenty game modes and a plethora of maps and customization options, the game keeps you engaged and entertained. Choose from eight different weapon types, including sniper rifles and SMGs, to eliminate your enemies strategically.
Upgrade and personalize your character using ZP, which can be obtained through real money, or GP, earned in-game. While the game leans towards pay-to-play, the extensive customization options ensure a fresh and unique experience.
Although the graphics of CrossFire may not match up to newer FPS games like Apex Legends, its lower resolution of 1024×768 allows for smoother gameplay on older systems. The game runs well on various operating systems, from XP to Windows 10, making it accessible to a wider range of players.
While there may be occasional lags and a few bugs, they do not significantly hinder the overall user experience. However, the game's biggest drawback lies in its vulnerability to hackers. Unless you play privately, there is limited protection against hackers, and players who invest in pay-to-play options may have a significant advantage.
If you're looking for alternative games, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) offers a similar older-style gameplay with more players, better graphics, and more maps. However, it also suffers from weak anti-cheating regulations. Apex Legends, on the other hand, provides a superior free FPS experience with impressive graphics and gameplay, but it requires a more powerful computer to run smoothly.
CrossFire offers a fun and diverse gaming experience, particularly for those with older systems. However, if you prefer newer first-person shooters, you may want to explore other options. While recent updates have focused on bug fixes and anti-hacking measures, the game's development has slowed down as the company shifts its attention to new markets.
